National Alliance for Borderline Personality

The National Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder website is a comprehensive website, which features personal stories of celebrities, video and audio presentations of conferences, different aspects of borderline personality disorder, conference archives, recommended reading, research studies, related organizations, and information on the disorder itself. The home page has a menu bar at its top that gives easy access to these links at the top of the page. Hovering the mouse on the links after Home and About BPD gives access to subtitle pages. Upcoming events are featured on the left of the page, with another link to the media library and a paragraph defining borderline personality disorder. The center of the page features Brandon Marshall of the Miami Dolphins, his diagnosis of borderline personality disorder and two newspaper features. Under the Brandon Marshall feature, there is information on the Family Connections program, a 12-week course for family members that teaches coping skills based on dialectical behavior therapy and how to develop a support network. Dialectical behavior therapy organizes treatment into stages and targets. The right side of the page features links to a brochure on borderline personality disorder, recent conferences, and a button to join the mailing list.

The About BPD link, on the upper menu bar, has a definition of borderline personality disorder, prevalence, symptoms, treatments, and what to look for when seeking professional help. Under the Families link in the upper menu, there are subheadings for Family Connections, Family Guidelines, Research Studies, and Surveys. Family Connections describes the 12-week coping course for family members dealing with borderline personality disorder, and contains articles, telecourse information, media, and a pre-registration form. Family Guidelines describes comprehensive steps to take in coping and treating relatives with the condition. Research Studies describes studies that individuals can participate in, and the survey is sponsored by the alliance on the availability of treatments.

The Professionals link in the upper menu subdivides into a description of the Young Investigator Award, which promotes research on borderline personality disorder and Young Investigator Award winners from the past. The description includes submission guidelines, criteria to enter, and review guidelines. The Conferences link contains upcoming conferences and conference archives. Under the Reading link is a description of borderline personality disorder by John G. Gunderson, MD, articles on what's new, editorials, articles for families, and articles that describe dialectical behavior therapy. The Media Library link on the side of the home page and Audio/Video in the upper menu bar both have links to audio recordings, videos, research articles, and slide presentations, which are on borderline personality disorder, genetics of the condition, treatments, and new developments. Audio/Video has videos arranged by topic. The Links link points to The National Institute of Mental Health website, leader resources, related and affiliated websites, and restricted access slides. About Us lists the board of directors, milestones, events, and press releases. Visit the  National Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder at
