Atkins Endulge has come out with a 2g peanut butter cup, similar to Reeses. How does it stack up with the competition?
Well first, Reeses does have a low carb version out, so make sure you compare apples to apples. The Reeses package has 2 large cups per package, at only 1 gram of sugar per cup. The cup is about 0.6oz. The Atkins package has 3 smaller cups per package. Each cup is 2g of sugar, and is about 0.4oz in size. So right there, you are getting more sugar and a smaller serving with the Atkins version.
I have to say I really don't like the flavor of the Atkins cups. In fact I recently opened one really wanting to eat it after not having had these in a while. I'd forgotten I disliked them. I took one bite and put them down. It's got an off, cardboardy flavor to me.
On the other hand, I handed the pack to my boyfriend who quickly devoured all three and said he liked these much better than the Reeses variety. To him the Reeses taste sandy. To him, the Atkins ones taste mild and chocolatey.
So I suppose with these it's worth it to try them for yourself. Buy a package and see if they match your taste buds. If they don't, you're not out much and you can try the other varieties. If you do like them, it's a nice treat without much sugar at all in them.
