Anger Management - Emotions

Emotions shape and color our thoughts and reasoning. Because emotion precedes and influences thought, it is worth understanding.

Emotions of anger and fear form into negative thoughts and their subsequent negative actions. Loving emotions form thoughts of concern and compassion, bearing out in caring actions.

Our physical, mental, and emotional aspects respond to our changing world of cause and effect - action, reaction.

Guided Meditation

Sit comfortably, eyes closed, hands folded in lap - or recline with eyes closed and arms loosely at sides, hands relaxed. Practice regulated breathing with timing such as 2 seconds to breathe in and 2 seconds to breathe out - continuing throughout the meditation.

Imagine yourself riding along comfortably in an airplane, with a clear view from your window.

You are the master controller of your actions and reactions in life, just as this plane trip is continuing because the plane has been fueled, given a pilot, and a flying plan to get it from one destination to the next.

You can change the course of your life by altering your plans, just as the pilot can change course if she chooses.

If the pilot unexpectedly encounters windy or stormy weather, she alters course to avoid it - she gets out of the way. And, like this, we can get out of the way and keep our emotional and mental peace if we encounter an angry person.

And if we feel angry emotions are going to overwhelm us, we can use an escape technique to regain control of the airplane of your life - tailspins can lead to disaster for an airplane and in our relationships. Instant Anger Release Technique is one method of regaining emotional control.

To end your meditation take in a deep breath, open your eyes and stretch - relaxed. Keep in mind that emotions propel your thoughts and actions, and ultimately you are in charge.
