What consumers should remember, especially those women, is that they should use moderation. When it comes to soy moderation is the key just like it is with other health food supplements and foods.

So, what is the required dose per day? Researchers recommend that women take about 30 to 40 milligrams of soy per day to receive the benefits. Researchers also warn those who take soy supplements to use due caution. Remember that no two soy products are exactly alike. They vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Stay safe by reading the ingredients on the label that is on the package.

Soy Cautions

Pregnant women and nursing mothers should avoid taking high levels of soy. Studies show that pregnant women who take high levels of soy might be prone to developing tumors. In addition, Researchers find that the benefits that men or women receive by taking soy are overshadowed by some of the dangers. For example, studies show that women who take soy supplements, drink soy milk, or consume soy food products notice a change in their menstrual cycle. This might be due to the large amounts of "Isoflavones" in soy. Some studies also dispute earlier findings. They show that taking large amounts of soy might increase breast cancer in women, alter brain functions in men, and increase chances of developmental abnormalities in infants.
