Is your home cracking, crumbling, or coming unglued? Are you overwhelmed by a ton of work that needs to be done, but you don't know where to begin? Did you begin renovations on your home with good intentions, until an unexpected event threw you off course or you ran out of money? Are you willing to get down and dirty to do some of the work yourself?
HGTV and Stone & Company Entertainment are looking for desperate homeowners whose homes need renovations. Their expert contractor, carpenter, and interior designer will come to your rescue!
If you live within 30 miles of the Los Angeles area, send an email to email@example.com Submissions must be received by Friday, July 23rd and must include the following information:
* Names and ages of everyone in the household (including pets)
* Phone number and address
* A brief paragraph explaining your story - tell them what needs to be fixed in your house and how you ended up in this situation
* Several photos of the rooms needing work and photos of all household members
They're also looking for licensed contractors, carpenters, and interior designers. You can send your resume and recent photo of yourself to firstname.lastname@example.org
Only homeowners, not renters, are eligible. They'll be renovating interiors only - no garages or landscaping. Single family homes will be considered - not townhomes or condominiums. Would you be willing to be on a reality TV show if it meant you could get some free, expert help renovating your home?
This kind of reality show appeals to me because it sounds like the homeowners are going to get down and dirty and actually help - not just sit around and expect a free handout. Some of these reality shows really bug me when the participants have this feeling of superiority and entitlement. Have you seen the show "True Beauty"? What terribly self-absorbed people those "contestants" are! I like watching good things happen to good people.
What is our fascination with reality TV shows anyway? Are we all voyeurs at heart? Is it that we just like to see how other people live so we can determine if we're the normal ones or they are? Do we like to imagine ourselves doing daring things but are too wimpy to audition for the actual shows? Why do YOU love reality shows? Post your comments here and let's find out the reality of TV...
