Plan a Stupendous Webelos Year

Dear Webelos Leaders:
Here it is! The grand scheme of things; The bridge between church requirements and BSA. I know - you are just as excited as I am! It is important to note that this is to be used as a guide only. I urge you to prayerfully plan your year. It will make things go a lot smoother and you will make some memories for these boys that will last a lifetime!

I believe the NOTES section below the outline (for a printable table, see "related Links" to the right) to be self-explanatory – with one exception. When I originally drafted this plan, my Ward frowned upon year round scouting. For that reason, I planned it for the school year, September through June. Another tidbit of information: You might see at some point in your research that BSA guidelines suggest two different Webelos badges based maturity level for a 20-month program. The first is meant for 4th grade Webelos, and the second is meant for 5th grade Webelos. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has condensed the program into 12 months, and so I have planned accordingly. Fitness and Citizen are repeated throughout the year to accommodate boys entering the program on their birthdates.

I have served in many different roles within BSA for the last 7 years. I am a Day Camp Program Director as well as certified Council Trainer.

None of what I have prepared is endorsed by BSA nor the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is free for your perusal and hopefully a springboard for inspiration. Good luck and ‘Do Your Best’!

Dear Webelos Parents:
I am looking forward to an exciting year with your boys. I have a lot planned to help them achieve their activity badges, Arrow of Light, and Religious Knot (FIG). It is important your son attend as many meetings as possible as there will be little time for one-on-one instruction. He should also “Be Prepared.” Our meetings will be approximately 1.5 hours in length (6:00 – 7:30 pm) and jam-packed with fun and excitement. Many meetings may not take the full hour and a half (especially if attendance is low); however I would like to reserve that time-frame in the event that projects take longer than anticipated. Listed below are the monthly themes for this school year as well as which activity pins I will cover, Religious Knot requirements covered and any planned special events. All activities are subject to change as needed. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours in scouting,
Sister Alice Rienzo
