Literary Knits Review

If you love to read AND knit, this is a pattern collection worth checking out. Each pattern in the book is named after the character from literature that inspired it. For example, the hat o the cover is called the Daisy cloche after Daisy in The Great Gatsby. The Scout cardigan, named for Scout in to Kill a Mockingbird is a child's cardigan with intarsia mockingbirds on the bottom.

There are patterns for men, women, children nd some accessory patterns in here. The patterns range from being somewhat simple styles to being very unique representations. The Laura pinafore is a simple shift style pinafore, but then, what else would you expect from Little House on The Prairie? in contrast is the Lyra hood, a girls lion-maned hood pattern.

Since many of these patterns are inspired from now classic texts, several of the designs have a nice retro or vintage flair. One section of the books is dedicated to shawls. The patterns range in difficulty from advanced beginner to advanced knitter. The pattern variety is a particular standout in this knitting collection.

Almost every knitting book has a few special techniques you will need to know to properly execute the design. There is a very good, visual guide to those techniques in this book. The special techniques section includes close-up photos with added directional arrows and text instruction, similar to the online knitting tutorials often seen on the web.

The is a great add to your personal knitting library if would want make projects inspired by well-known literary titles or you like vintage/retro looks. If you knit for children who love to read classics such as Little House On the Prairie or Chronicles of Narnia, this book will have several gift options for you.

FCC disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this title from the book's publisher. I received no compensation for this book review. All of my reviews are my honest opinion.
