Hill & Valley has a no sugar added version of oatmeal raisin cookies, sweetened with splenda. There are no trans fats at all in this, and only 11g of net carbs.
This was found in the bakery section of our store, in one of those thin plastic containers that they often pack fresh donuts and baked goods in.
Note that this says "no sugar added". This reminds you that there is NATURAL sugar in these ingredients, like raisins and oats. They add a variety of sweeteners to this to have the end cookie taste good. This includes both sugar alcohols and Splenda. They have to mix up the sweeteners since different sweeteners work in different ways during baking.
So there are 9g of sugar alcohols per serving in here. If you are sensitive to sugar alcohols - or have never have tried them - be sure to start small here. Most people don't have any issues with sugar alcohols, but some do!
The container comes with 12 cookies, and a serving size is one. The cookies are fairly large - about the diameter of a business card. They are moist, flavorful, with a nice rich texture and a good number of juicy raisins. I really like the flavor of the cookie. It goes perfectly with a cup of herbal tea.
The key here is not to sit down with the entire container of cookies and treat them like potato chips! You want to take just one and treat it like the special treat that it is, to go with something flavorful to drink. Put them into individual zip locks if you have to. Whatever technique you use to manage your portions, use them here.
For nutrition, a cookie is 35g in weight, and has 140 calories. It has 7g of fat, with 3g of that saturated. 21g total carbs, with 1g fiber, 2g sugar and 9g sugar alcohol. There's 2g of protein.
Hill and Valley is based in Illinois, but I'm finding their goods on the east coast, so they seem to have a fairly good distribution network. If you can't find these at your local supermarket, be sure to ask! Often they can bring in products once they know there is a demand for them.
