At this week's television critics press conference, producers for NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" announced a major shake-up in its ensemble cast. How major? Three series regulars are gone and three new actors are joining the show as new characters.
Jamey Sheridan, who played the role of Capt. Deakins for five seasons on the show, is no longer with the show. Filling the role of the new head of the Major Case Squad is actor Eric Bogosian, last seen in the short-lived series, "Love Monkey."
Annabella Sciorra's Detective Carolyn Barek will no longer be partnered with Chris Noth's Detective Mike Logan. Joining the squad will be Detective Megan Wheeler, played by Julianne Nicholson, last seen in NBC's short-lived series, "Conviction."
Rounding out the changes is the departure of Courtney B. Vance, who played A.D.A. Ron Carver. Marvin Gaye's daughter, Nona (XXX: State of the Union, the Matrix trilogy), will be appearing as Patricia Kent, the new A.D.A.
While the various Law & Order series do have a bit of a revolving door when it comes to cast members, it's unusual for so many changes to take place at the start of one season. One other change to note: the show is also moving to a new timeslot on Tuesdays at 9pm eastern.
