How to Heal Ourselves

Doctors, both Western and Eastern, know that the secret to healing rests with you and so the responsibility! Whether you have a headache, backache or suffer from a vague sadness, you can restore the balance. Stress and anger will secretly rob you of your vitality and health, chipping away at the cellular level where you donít notice the internal damage until much later. To heal your body and emotions the best medicine is relaxation which will restore the balance. Hereís the recipe:All the medical drugs and treatments work best when we intentionally partner our own healing by putting our mind and body into it. Thatís why it is important to create a calm, relaxed environment where we can absorb positive stimulation of our five senses. Instead of thinking how we can illuminate and please others, this is the time to absorb good energy, not to let it radiate out of our body. In order to feel better we need to keep our energy inside instead of giving it away.

Reducing the drama in our lives leads to good heath. In order to create inner peace and harmony we need to forgive others and let go of those skirmishes. Then comes the hard part: Learning to forgive ourselves. Since childhood we have internalized shame like we are too fat; we are not good at math; we are too clumsy; weíll never do it right; we donít make enough money. Now as adults we have to convince ourselves, virtually hypnotize ourselves, to feel good about who we are and where we are going in life. How can we heal physical illnesses if we feel bad about ourselves? Thatís why Eastern medicine uses so many different energy postures and mantras to help convince ourselves that we are worthy of health and happiness and that we already possess this potential within.

The next time we are sick with a bad cold or sick at heart, letís communicate with the boss Ė our spirit and say: Do a good job and heal me! Thank you!
