Skin Brushing Guide

Skin is exposed to hundreds of pollutants in the air we breathe and the surrounding environment each and every day. And did you know that the skin is a living breathing organism that requires nourishment and cleansing just like any other major organ in the body? It's very true! Many women find that body brushing or skin brushing is a great method to quickly detox the body while invigorating and revitalizing the skin. And just about anyone can utilize this skin care method in the privacy of their home. Practice the routine daily, every other day, once a week.

Skin Brushing Equipment

Skin brushing requires a soft natural bristle brush with a long extended handle so that it might easily reach those difficult places on the body. The brush should easily extend to reach the back of the neck and lower back area. These brushes are available at bath and body shops or online.

Getting Started

Skin brushing should be a regular part of your daily body care routine to get the most benefits. Try to work in the skin brushing routine before taking the morning shower or bath. And remember to pay extra attention to areas prone to cellulite on the body.

Skin Brushing Technique

1. Start at the bottom working up the body. Begin with the feet work the brush around the feet vigorously in a circular motion.

2. Continue the same motion up your legs.

3. Now continue the vigorous brushing motion on hands and arms.

4.Brush the lower back, upper back, shoulders, and the neck.

5. Continue to the abdomen using small firm circular motions across the area.

6. Run the brush across the breast lightly several times.

7. Finish up the skin brushing routine by using small vigorous circular movements around the neck.

After finishing the skin brushing jump into a hot shower and gently wash the skin with a cleansing soap. After the shower softly rub the skin all over with a large towel to remove any dead skin. Finish with a good quality moisturizing lotion. See below for recommended skin brush.
