Beer Fox Question: How do I become a certified beer judge? Is there anything out west in the USA or Canada? Do you need a prolific beernoid to help you with your beer resourcefulness? P.B., On the Web
Beer Fox Answer: To become a certified beer judge, I would recommend that you read the information posted by the Beer Judge Certification Program at:
http://www.bjcp.org
In particular, see the details in the area marked "BJCP Exam Center.” If you look under "Member Resources," the section marked "Our Officers" breaks down each region of the US and Canada into regions. You will be able to determine who serves the area in which you live, making it easier to key into a regional network.
I would recommend enrollment in a BJCP course of study - classes that teach the material - if they are available in your region. Sometimes, a brewing supply store, craft brewery, or brewpub will offer these courses (usually once a year in a program that lasts several weeks).
