Book Review of From the Ashes Flies the Phoenix : Creating a Powerful Life After a Suicide

A book by Gretta Krane

There are many people suffering from the loss of a loved one, not sure how or even unable to cope. Prevalent feelings amongst many in our society are those of depression and hopelessness. Often they are ashamed to seek out, or admit that they need treatment, and some have no support system available.

Have you lost a loved one to suicide? Have you known someone who has taken their own life or watched a friend grieve over the same? There are those who consider themselves 'the living dead' -as did Gretta Krane after the suicide of her husband; left to pick up the pieces and try to raise her children alone. Attempting to wake herself from the nightmare and disbelief of her husband's actions was a battle she almost didn't win.

In her book, From the Ashes Flies the Phoenix, Ms. Krane relates her story to her readers from the moment of witnessing her husband's suicide, to how she evenutally found a way to heal. She shows hindsight remembering warning signs of how her husband suffered from depression and increased alcohol abuse where lability in mood and actions followed.

Although this is an emotional read, Ms. Krane allows you to feel her story - from shock, disbelief, guilt, and anger - to healing. Her goal in this book is in "Creating a powerful life after a suicide." (excerpt from cover) It will not only make you cry, but rejoice when her heart finds freedom.

Gretta shared with me that she would like people to know that her book is about "how to move forward when life's got you down. That adversities hit all of us in some way, at some time. But what I feel is key to remember is that...Dreams may die, but you don't!"

This book by Gretta Krane is insightful and worth the journey!
