About a week ago I made the best investment ever: a $3.95 shipping charge for a book that was offered free on the world wide web. Normally what is offered for free is not of much value; but this was different.
On September 13th I received the e-newsletter from PATHmedical -- that you can receive by subscribing from www.pathmed.com -- which featured upfront the newest book by Dr. Eric Braverman: Younger You. The offer was for the first 100 people who responded to receive a copy of his book for just the shipping charges. I called PATHMedical minutes after receiving the e-newsletter and got a copy in the mail last Monday. I got the impression that not too many people at pathmed knew about the offer; hence that they still may have copies if you call them!
Three years ago I read The Edge Effect: achieve total health and longevity with the balanced brain advantage from the same author. I was quite impressed with Dr. Braverman’s earlier work on how neurotransmitters in the brain determine every aspect of health as well as how you think. I took the Braverman Assessment Test that is included in the book and from it found about my dominant natures (dopamine, acetylcholine, GABA, or serotonin) and deficiencies.
Our brain is nothing else than electric currents that direct the rest of our body. Dopamine is really the voltage of these electric currents; acetylcholine is the brain speed; GABA is the rhythm and serotonin is the harmony in the brain. Hence, obesity, heart problems, lack of libido, or loss of sleep can all be easily explained by deficiencies in the brain.
Once you know your dominant deficiencies you can follow the suggestions of Braverman to rebalance, fix those problems, achieve optimal health. Total fitness can be derived from changes in diet, exercise and nutrient supplements. Unless some extreme conditions are reached, just about anything is reversible without medications.
Braverman’s first book was great but not an easy read. Earlier this year he released Younger You: Unlock the hidden power of your brain to look and feel 15 years younger, which is far more readable, practical and specific in regard to the recommendations on rebalancing the brain.
Within 24 hours of receiving my copy I had taken the AgePrint test in the book and gone through the four main chapters about dopamine, acetylcholine, GABA, serotonin. The rest of Braverman’s book is about the pauses or all the factors that make us age faster than necessary.
Braverman provides aggressive prescriptions for slowing the aging process; even predicts in his book that “in the near future living less than 100 years of age will be a rarity”. I got so much out of these two books that I already feel a couple of years younger simply by better understanding how the brain influences health and thinking.
When the markets turn back into a rally like they did last week, it is crucial to be in top physical condition and to act smart in the selection of new investments. This is why making an investment in better health, better understanding of what causes health problems is one of the best investments you can make, even if you have to pay full price for Braveman’s book. Take the Braverman Assessment Test and the AgePrint test and follow the suggestions in Younger You to rebalance and reach optimal health.
