In the Rain with Baby Duck

Amy Hest writes In the Rain with Baby Duck. Jill Barton illustrates the picture book. There are thirty-two pages. In the Rain with Baby Duck is for children three to six-years-old.

It is a rainy day. A joyous playtime for ducks in the water. Baby Duck is in the rain with her family. Her family is jumping in puddles. They are very happy, but not Baby Duck. Mud covers her feet. Rain pelts her face. Baby Duck is truly unhappy.

Mr. And Mrs. Duck is oblivious to Baby Duckís discomfort. It is Grandpa Duck who recognizes Baby Duckís unhappiness. His words of encouragement and the items in the attic brighten the ducklingís day. At the end of the picture book, Baby Duck and Grandpa Duck are arm-in-arm. The twosome hop and waddle with glee.

Amy Hestís Baby Duck series is best for grandparents and grandchildren. This is because Baby Duck's parents do not recognize she has problems. The series portray the special bond between Grandpa Duck and his granddaughter. The grandpa with his years of experience understands Baby Duckís feelings. He unlike her parents takes time to talk and listen to her.

Jill Bartonís watercolors make a rainy day bright. There are glorious, fat raindrops. The Duck family yellow feathers glisten.

In the Rain with Baby Duckís text is simple. The sentences are short. The print is large and bold. Grandparent and grandchild can easily read the picture book together.
