Using Creativity Everyday

Are you ready for a change? Do you want to lead a more creative life? Now is the perfect time to set a goal of becoming more creative each day. What have you got to lose? And think about all that you have to gain by embracing a more creative life.

At first, it may seem that resolving to be more creative on a daily basis is a tall order to fill. Life can seem, as one artist puts it, “so daily,” that we find ourselves in a rut. Is it even possible to bring more creativity to these daily tasks?

I would argue that it is completely possible to be creative on a daily basis. The first thing to do is give this resolution some thought as to what concrete actions you can take that are more creative. Making a goal to be more creative is pretty broad so putting pen to paper to brainstorm ideas will give you specific actions you can take. Anything that shakes up those brain neurons and gets them going will bring on more creativity in the long run.

How can you be more creative with daily tasks? Well, for starters you could take a different route to work. This is a simple change but one that brings with it a change of scenery. Or you may try public transportation. Some people opt for public transportation because it gives them time to think and ponder without worrying about traffic. What about trying a different coffee than your usual morning cup of joe? Or better yet, you could learn to make your favorite coffee at home. How about updating your paper files with pretty folders? Take a look at your daily schedule and the things you interact with. Where could you benefit from trying things in a new, more innovative way? What things are calling out for some newness?

As well as looking at daily tasks that could use a little creative inspiration, also write down your creative goals. What projects do you want to complete? What new hobby would you like to learn?

Anything that shakes up those brain neurons and gets them going will bring on more creativity in the long run. When you try something different or approach doing something routine in a new way, it signals to your mind that change is afoot. It breaks you out of your rut and starts the ball rolling towards thinking outside your daily confines.

Making these small creative changes benefits us in two ways. The first way is by feeling more alive. When we choose to try something different we are rewarded with the excitement of doing something creative in a new way. The second way is that by doing this, it invites more inspiration into your life. These creative acts are small gestures encourage your brain towards innovation.

Changing up your life by adding creativity requires action. You can act by doing a creative activity or by doing something more ordinary in a creative way. Brainstorming ways of doing your everyday tasks creatively and then following it up with action is one of the easiest ways to bring more energy and creativity to your life.
