Happy Valentine's Day to All Ethnic Beauties

This day is known by different names in different countries and cultures. For ethnic and multiethnic women here in America we know it as Valentine’s Day; the Lover’s Holiday. This is where love takes a holiday. Traditionally it is meant as a courting gesture for couples. It was a day for those in love to openly express how they felt about that special someone.

It is celebrated around the world but in different ways. It even has different names in other cultures. The principle of the day stays true to love. There are many love holiday celebrations around the world. It is more about what the day stands for rather than who started it or where the day originated from. It is what is called a Love Holiday.

Love’s Holiday is a day for romance, love and passion. It’s a holiday specifically for celebrating the intimacy of love. Valentine's Day is a holiday when we believe in fairy tales and fantasy. We dream of knights in shining armor, a prince to be his princess.

I don’t know about you but stories like Cinderella and Snow White intrigued me. I always wanted to be the princess to get rescued by the prince of her dreams. As we grow we realize they are just that; fairy tales; that allow us to dream, if just for a brief moment. So while I may sound a little corny here I believe in a holiday just for love.

Ah… come on Ladies you know what I am talking about. It’s the day when you find out you have a secret admire. At the same time you have the freedom to express your love to that special someone.

Valentine’s Day is also a celebration of friendships and family. It's a time when we can show those close to us how much we love care and appreciate them. This is usually shown through tradition of exchanging gifts, cards, flowers and even marriage vows. Many families do things together and plan events and outings in celebration of the day.

What types of traditions do you and your family has for Valentine’s Day? Do you celebrate with friends and family or do you save the best for last, perhaps a night out on the town; dinner and dancing maybe? If you do not have any type of tradition for this day consider starting one this year. Whether it’s giving flowers or chocolates it always nice to know someone cares for you.

Whatever your traditions or not, enjoy the day and the moment of love. This day only comes around once a year, be sure to celebrate it with passion and affection.
