A board book is the classic style childrens book with thick, easy to manage pages. A board book journal is great for kids and for people with poor motor coordination.

With regular books and journals the paper that you write on is incredibly thin. If you use your pen or pencil too strongly, you can damage or rip the pages. Also, the pages do not stand up well to use or to spills.

With a board book, the pages are nice and thick. They are usually made from cardboard. This means you can bear down on them with pens or pencils without problem. You can even use crayons if you wish.

The only real downside is that you can only fit a few pages in the average board book. It won't last you a year of daily entries. However, that isn't a big problem for people who need to use board books. Cardboard is cheap! You can make pretty much as many board books as you want, and if that is what works best for you for your writing ability, then by all means, go for it.

You can easily make your own board books just by stapling together pieces of cardboard. Another technique is to punch 3-hole punch holes into the cardboard, and then to use yarn to tie them together. For something more sturdy, get a 3 ring binder and do the same thing, putting the cardboard in with the heavy metal rings.
