Ethnic Hair Help From Miko, Titi, and Grandmother

The story I'm about to tell you caught my attention for a number of reasons. The first is because my stylist uses the products. Then secondly, some of you emailed and asked questions. Thirdly, the woman's name, 'Miss Jessie' captured my curiosity because that happens to be what a lot of people call my mother. My interest was also piqued because I wanted to know what this woman did. Then while doing research, I instantly became attracted by the fact that her progeny wanted their grandmother's story told. That was an overwhelming factor, one that is dear to me, because as an author, I also want my mom's story told. Then there's the kicker. I found that Miss Jessie's story would appeal to you my lovely, because she created products for ethnic hair. These, her granddaughters Titi and Miko have perfected, and have made available to their special clientele, ethnic beauties everywhere.

According to her granddaughters, now the founders of Miss Jessie's Products and Salon, back in the day, Miss Jessie was the most no-nonsense, straight-talking, 'cookingest' woman! Said her granddaughters, she also believed that people were to be nicely turned out, neatly groomed. Well, it seems this matriarch used that philosophy to gently manage her granddaughter's hair. Sending them to a Japanese salon would not have worked, and subjecting those babies to someone who saw their hair as something wild, to be tamed was unconscionable just because the girls had been born to a mother of Japanese origin and a father who was African-American. Therefore the matriarch Miss Jessie, a problem-solver, whipped up a natural, also edible treatment which both nourished and hydrated her granddaughters' halos of multi textured hair. This, they say this was nothing new, because many was the time that their grandmother shared her recipes/remedies with others.

However, what I find remarkable is that Miko and Titi, now two formidable women, one of whom prospered while taking a career path that did not involve hair care, both found their way back to the tried and true formulas of their tender years. Their products, named in honor of their grandmother, have since been lauded in many award-winning beauty magazines and on the largest daytime talk shows. The line, now at Target, is also touted by stylists and endorsed by celebrities. But what I happen to love is that the products have done a crossover, many times over. The product line has erased ethnic categories in that it is, and can be, used by any beauty that has a coarser ethnic curl. If you have Mediterranean charm, or are an Indian ingenue, if you're a Jewish gem, an attractive African-American, if you're a chica Bonita, a lovely Latina, if you're an elegant Italian --whatever your ethnicity, we are so many, and so diverse-- then great news! These products may be for you. I say so because they were created not for race, but for texture.

If you are, or happen to know someone, for whom lighter based products are not working, then why not take a look at what Miss Jessie's granddaughters are offering? They have an ever-growing line of sweet-named products. Check them out via the web. See many before and after photos, learn new dos, and read testimonials.

I leave you with this nugget of wisdom from America's sage Ann Landers:
When life's problems seem overwhelming, look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself fortunate.
