Knit Doll Clothes Patterns

18 inch dolls, such as American Girl or Springfield Collection dolls, are classic and treasured toys for girls. Some girls will continue to treasure their dolls even into adulthood. Knitting clothes and accessories for an eighteen-inch doll can be a great way to make a personal gift. A knitter can also make a sweater for a girl, and a sweater front he same yarn for her doll to make matching sweaters. Some adult knitters even like to try out designs for an eighteen-inch doll before making a full child or young adult item. The smaller size gives the knitter a chance to try the design before committing to a larger knitting project.

One website full of 18 inch doll knitting patterns is in the doll section of Knittingpatterncentral.com (link at bottom of article.) The site author, Barbara Breiter, has placed knitting patterns of her own and others on this site for several years. This site includes hats, dresses, suits, capes, skirt and more.

Knittingpatternsgalore.com also has a variety of patterns, including a matching girl and doll cardigan. If you are looking for a project to use leftover yarn, this site has a poncho pattern that is perfect for that. There is also a fashionable lace dress pattern that looks delightfully feminine.

If you love Scandinavian sweaters as much as I do, then be sure to look at Malfred Gisel designs page (link at bottom of article.) These for sale patterns are detailed. Each pattern includes instructions for a full ensemble. A different outfit was designed for each month, so there are twelve different patterns to choose from. There are several very nice Norwegian style ski sweater designs here.

If you are looking for basic patterns that are available in a variety of gauges, then look at Jessica Tromps' free pattern for American Girl dolls. There are patterns for a dress, a pullover, skirt and pants. The site also includes patterns for Barbie and Raggedy Ann dolls.
