Treat Your Skin to Some Post-Holiday R&R

With the holiday rush now behind us, I offer you a special way to treat yourself (and your skin) to some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Today you'll learn how to make your own moisturizer, giving your skin a luxurious spa-like indulgence while saving you money in the long run.

Aromatic Light Face Cream (shelf life: one month)

Step One
Melt wax, fats, and liquid lecithin in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Watch that the mixture only gets warm enough to melt the contents. Beeswax should be grated for easiest melting. Make sure all is blended well and then remove from heat. Allow to cool about a minute. Add Vitamin E if you have dry skin. It will make the cream richer.

Step Two
In a mixing bowl or blender, combine the water, glycerin, and essential oils.

Step Three
While blender or mixer is operating, slowly drizzle the warm melted oils and wax into the water mixture. It will become thick. The longer you blend, the fluffier it will become. It will appear to be a little 'loose' at this point, but will continue to harden as it comes to room temperature. Pour into a suitable jar and allow to sit on the counter for 20 to 30 minutes, then cap and store in the refrigerator.
