Preparation - Place the carrots in a saucepan. Add enough water to barely cover them. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer until tender. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the lemon juice and maple syrup. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the carrots and simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes or until heated through. Add salt and pepper just before serving.
