June Romance Releases
Hello, and welcome back! The rainy weather that's been plaguing us cleared out just in time for my to go to a local park for a wonderful concert last night--like Celtic music? I love this band, so I have to share. Check out Gaelic Storm. Great traditional and more modern Celtic music, some romantic, and all fun, and if you saw Titanic, you saw this band. They also have a website at Gaelic Storm where you can find out more about the band.

Okay, now that I've got that off my chest, lol, let's get to this week's books. First up is Dorothy Garlock's Mother Road
Mother Road
(Warner). Leona Dawson is cautious--being branded the local tramp for living with her brother-in-law Andy to raise her dead sister's children hasn't helped matters. Neither does the fact that Andy's customers are sometimes dangerous. Dangerous to her protective walls, though, is Yates, a friend of Andy's who arrives to help out when Andy's stuck in the hospital. Ms. Garlock's writing is smooth and the characters belivable. I'm just not a fan of early 1900's historicals. For Garlock fans, this one should be a hit. It gets three of Cupid's five arrows.

The other book I have to share with you this week is by Lisa Jewell, Friend of the Family
Friend of the Family
(Dutton). The publisher is marketing this as a romance, but I'd classify it as mainstream fiction. It does have some romantic elements in it, but I definitely wouldn't call it a romance. Meet the London boys: Tony, Sean and Ned. Okay, well, they're not really boys any more, but adults, reunited for their parents' anniversary, and going through some changes in their own lives. Ned is happy to be back from Australia and his unstable ex. Tony's infatuated with Sean's girlfriend, and Sean's in for a surprise in his relationship. Toss in their parents and a strange man boarding with them, and you get a quirky story. It was a pleasant enough read, but not a keeper.

I promised a book giveaway, and so here it is: I have another copy of "Mother Road," which will go to the fifth person to post a reply who hasn't gotten a book from me in the last four months in the forum in the June Book Giveaway thread. Good luck!

Until next time, happy reading!
