Snoop Dogg Pens Theme for One Life to Live

Who knew the rapper Snoop Dogg was a soap opera fan? It turns out his mom got him hooked on One Life to Live as a baby and he’s been a fan ever since. ABC recently announced that he would be performing two new songs on the show that will air on May 8 and May 9. The songs, “Sensual Seduction” and “Life of ‘Da Party” are from his new album, “Ego Trippin’”. He will also be writing and performing a new opening theme for the soap that will air only on those two dates in May.

In the storyline, Snoop will be performing at a bachelorette party for the character of Adrianna and will be interacting with some Llanview’s favorite characters. Not only will he get to perform, he’ll get a chance to use his acting chops as well. Even though he is best known as a singer, rapper and record producer, he also has many credits as an actor.

One Life to Live has the perfect venue for musical guests in the fictional nightclubs of Ultra Violet and Capricorn. Other well-known musical acts that have appeared on the show include: Mary J. Blige, Lifehouse, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, Chris Botti, and Erykah Badu.

One Life to Live has its own talented cast to draw from as well. Kassie DePaiva, who plays Blair Manning, has recorded a few albums and regularly sings on the show. Broadway Veteran, Kathy Brier, recently played the title role in the production of Hairspray. Last year, the show used its teen crew to recreate a “High School Musical” clone called "Prom Night: The Musical". OLTL is a New York based show and has the luxury to draw upon many talented musical theater actors.

ABC also highlights many of it talented soap stars from its three shows at various events throughout the year. They perform every November at Walt Disney World’s, “Super Soap Weekend” and also each February at the “ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids” event held in New York.
