A Little Romance, a Little Magic

Well, where to start? Hmm, with the magic or the marble? Decisions, decisions. Fortunately, this one isn´t that difficult. Both book were good reads, and I hope you´ll enjoy them, too, since both are available now.

The first is Dragon Hour: A Romantic Fantasy
Dragon Hour: A Romantic Fantasy
by Connie Flynn (Onyx). Caryn rules Lochlorraine, but at the moment, her kingdom is trapped in a time bubble and under siege by a dragon. Tough guy Luke Slade is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he and his cousin end up traveling back in time trying to escape some thugs. After the commotion of their arrival, it is decided that Luke is the Dragonslayer of their prophecies. Caryn has suffered through a forced marriage to a man twice her age and now has free reign since his death. The experience has convinced her that she does not want another man. Luke, naturally, will try to convince her otherwise in due time. This story has some humor in it, along with a good dose of sentimentality. But the best part is the happy ending, as you all know. I´m giving this one four of Cupid´s five arrows.

The second book I read this week is Silver Lining
Silver Lining
by Maggie Osborne. What a great story! Louise Downe, aka Low Down, nurses a group of men through smallpox. When they´ve recovered, they have to repay her somehow and her only wish is a baby. The only hitch is the minister who´s present at the recuperation celebration who insists that the man to father the baby must also wed Low Down. That man turns out to be Max McCord-who is already engaged to another woman. Before they can blink, they´re wed. The journey to Max´s home, and from strangers to lovers is an amazing one. The family scenes, and just the entire book, really, are wonderfully written. I could gush about this one, but I´ll stop now and let you find out for yourselves. Of Cupid´s five arrows, this one gets four and a half. A definite keeper.

Just a quick note, in the next couple weeks, I´ll be doing an interview with Susan Meier, a very prolific author who writes for Silhouette Romance. She has the first book in a new series out now, and we´ll talk about that, and about writing in general.

Till next time, happy reading!
