New Year for Romance?

New Year for Romance?
We´re two weeks into the new year and the world hasn´t ended, much to the surprise of some people. What do you want from this new year? Reading-wise, that is. I´m afraid I can´t help much with anything else, and I don´t know how much I can help there, except to review more of what you´re looking for. This week is my week to find out what you want to see here this year: reviews, interviews, opinions. I do want to let you know that I´ve got at least one author interview lined up in the next couple months and there will be more reviews.

I´ve seen previews for more of the daddy/cowboy/baby books and have to be honest: they don´t do much for me. What about you? And how can you make your opinion known to the publishers? One good way is your buying. If you´re sick and tired of one thing, don´t buy it. Another good way is to write them a letter. They do read customer mail, and some of the publishers swear that´s how they make their own buying choices, by what the customers are saying and buying.

How about paranormals? The publishers say the market isn´t there for paranormals, but readers I´ve talked with say there aren´t enough there for them to buy. Sort of a catch-22, I think. The publisher only buys a few and then when they don´t sell well, the editors assume there´s no one interested in reading them anymore. Same goes for Regencies. And I´ve heard fans of that sub-genre who absolutely don´t want to read anything else.

I have a small stack of review romances waiting to be read right now, some historical, some paranormal. Personally, as much as I love time travels, I don´t read just those. I read a fair amount of almost all the subgenres, and I suspect most others do the same. One subgenre I´ve been hearing a lot about is the erotic historicals that are so popular right now. I do have some of those on my shelves, and some authors I like better than others. What do you think of those? Yea? Nay? I heard great comments about the anthology released last summer, and I admit to enjoying it. I also got to meet one of the authors at a conference last fall, and she talked about writing these, seemed to really like what she´s doing and the response she gets from the readers.

As I said earlier, this is where I need to know what you want to see here. Post to me on the forum or send me an email. And happy reading!
