Motorcycle Clubs

Motorcycle Clubs
How can you really get involved in motorcycling and share the fun social aspect of the sport? Join a motorcycle club, group, or organization.

There are forums, like the one I have on this site, there are rallies you can attend, and there are clubs you can join. This article is about the many types of motorcycle organizations you can join. Sometimes motorcycles clubs are where you least expect them. Did you know that besides the famous outlaw clubs like Hell’s Angels or the Chosen Few, there are manufacturer clubs such as the worldwide Harley Owners Group (HOG)with local chapters and the worldwide Honda Riders Clubs with local chapters?

There are organization specific charitable clubs such as Moose Riders, Legion Riders, and Eagle Riders, just to name a few. There are State organizations that sponsor motorcycle groups, Veteran’s organizations, Police and Firemen organizations, Gay and Lesbian clubs, Gender based groups such as the Chrome Divas, Ethnic Motorcycle groups, and if you don’t like any of the above, think about starting your own group based on culture, race or age.

There are motorcycle organizations that you can join that are involved in motorcycle rights and changing laws that pertain to motorcycle issues, such as State ABATE organizations and the Motorcycle Rider's Foundation (MSF). There is an all encompassing national organization entitled the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) that organizes national events and activities involving motorcyclists' legal rights.

Normally, a motorcycle club has a formal structure with elected officers, regularly scheduled meetings, by-laws, and annual dues. The majority of motorcycle clubs are charitable and help the community in some way by planning poker runs or Christmas rides delivering presents for disadvantaged families. The common thread of all these clubs and organizations is the pride that riders have in their ride and the passion they have for motorcycling.

By joining a motorcycle club or organization, you can ride as much or as little as you want and meet some of the best people. Motorcycle people are a special breed of their own and you make lifelong friends by participating.
Even if you are not a "joiner", you can still attend some of the great rides and parties that these organizations sponsor.

Here's hoping that you spring into gear and get rolling!
