My frustration at the lack of literature available on hysterectomies is increasing as the days go by. I am beginning to think that there are no books out there that are either not aimed at talking every woman out of making this decision and if there are I haven’t found any that were written after the early 90’s. I am well aware that I am not able to look at every book ever written on the subject, but, I’ve been to one bookstore where I was unable to find any books that even discussed hysterectomy and when I asked the employee behind the counter if they had any I had to spell it for him, and the second store I visited had one book aimed at the “other” options. Don’t people realize that there are women out there that will have this surgery done and it would be ever so helpful to provide us with some information on the topic that is of a more positive attitude. It’s not like I don’t have enough on my mind right now just with preparing myself for this, but everything I read makes this procedure sound as if it’s some medieval sacrificial ritual. As much ranting as these people are doing on how overused this surgery is I find it astounding that there isn’t more information out there on this subject. Of course when the subject is brought up everyone has their 2 sense to contribute, but I guess no one has bothered to do their research and write a good book. I definitely intend to change that!
