Free Fall Desktop Wallpaper

Guest Author - Charisse Van Horn

Decorating your desktop is a great way to celebrate the change of seasons and free fall desktop wallpaper is perfect for celebrating autumn. September 22, 2008 marks the official first day of autumn, and as the new season brings pumpkins, cornucopias, and Indian corn decorations many choose to make sure that their computers are also aptly decorated. One of the easiest ways to get your own autumn desktop wallpaper is to make it yourself.

It may seem difficult to make desktop wallpaper, but it isnít. You might have added pictures to your desktop in the past, but when creating desktop wallpaper, you will want to ensure that the photo that you use is the right size. The best way to do this is to check the desktop settings on your computer and edit your photo in a photo editor. If your desktop settings are 1024 x 768 then resize your photo to the same settings. Make sure to check the option that will keep the proportions of the image the same. This will prevent the image from distorting. You can edit the picture to your liking then save it in your image folder. Most operating systems will let you right click on an image and choose to set it as your desktop background. If you donít have a photo editing program that you feel comfortable using, you might want to download the free graphic editor Irfan View at http://www.irfanview.com Irfan View will let you crop, retouch, and edit your images and is completely free. When saving images for use as desktop wallpaper, it is best to save them in JPG or BMP formats.

Now that you know how to set your own images as desktop wallpaper, you might want to browse the Internet for free fall or autumn images to use. There are many sites that will give free wallpaper and you can simply download them. Yet, make sure that the images you use are available for public use. Just because an image is available through Google doesnít mean that the photographer has given away rights to use the photo, so always check for copyright information before using. However, if you have a digital camera you can take your own images and use them as desktop wallpaper as well.

Creating your own free fall desktop wallpaper is fun and rewarding. You might find that you enjoy creating wallpaper and giving them away to others for free. If you are going to give free desktop wallpaper away, then be sure to resize the image and have several choices available. The most common desktop settings are 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, and 1280 x 1024.
