Updo on Blonde Hair

Updo on Blonde Hair
This updo is created on medium to long hair. It is easier to create in hair that is all one length. Layering is not advised for this style since it is created with knots.

Start pulling large strands of hair to the center back of the head. Turn the strands over into a curl and secure them with bobby pins. After the center of the style is finished, start pulling strands back from the front. As you pull the strand back, tie it into a loose knot. Take the ends back into the curls and secure them with a bobby pin. If the hair isn't long enough to reach the curls, pin the ends under the knot.

A knot is created just as you would knot a piece of yarn. Keep the strand of hair smooth as you work with it and keep the knot loose so that the hair does not buckle.

This updo is accented by straight pieces of hair that stand out from the curls. You can create your own imaginative ornamentation by using hair that has been cut. Take cut pieces that are about two to three inches in length. Place them on foil or wax paper. Use a hot glue gun to bind the ends together at one end. Trim the other end in a straight line and spray the piece so that it is very stiff. When the glue and the hairspray is dry, insert the pieces into the updo as accent pieces. Secure each firmly using bobby pins. The accent pieces should last for two or three updos if they are treated carefully.

You can use any color of hair for the accents. The pieces shown are of the same hair color as the model. Contrasting shades are also attractive.
