Hot Curlers and Their Use

Guest Author - Lynne Chapman

Hot rollers can be an important part of you hair care if your hair is medium to long in length. They can change your look from flat to fluffy, from straight to curly and from limp to bouncy and do it in about twenty minutes. There are many types and brands on the market. When looking for a set of hot rollers, first look for a variety of roller sizes. This will give you versatility in styling. The rollers should not have sharp edges. You don't want your hair to snag on the rollers when you are removing them. Ridges are permissable if they have smooth edges.

These are the hot curlers I use to get curl and body in all types of hair.

Conair Ion Shine Instant Heat Hair Setter

Quick to heat and gentle on your hair, these hot rollers make it easy to curl hair every day. Rollers heat up in just two minutes.

  • To give your hair the most body and control, use hair spray to spray the base of each section of hair before inserting the roller.
  • Be sure to leave the rollers in the hair for at least 5 to 15 minutes. Removing the rollers while they are still warm will result in less curl. Cooling the rollers before removing them will result in more curl.
  • To get big "loopy" curls, comb your hair only with your fingers or use a large plastic pic.
  • If you want to have less curl, after removing the rollers, brush your hair with a hair brush. This will take out some of the curl and just leave the body.

When using any kind of rollers follow these tips:
Using lots of small rollers will result in more curl and more fullness.
Using lots of large rollers will result in more fullness.
Using just a few large rollers will give some fullness and shape.

Use small hot rollers for this a curly look updo. Directions are here.
