Haunted Happenings

Nobody celebrates Halloween quite like Salem, Massachusetts. Whether you are seeking the changing leaves and cooler weather New England Autumn brings or the ghosts and goblins that Halloween is known for, you will find it all in Salem this October.

Salem Haunted Happenings 2003 will begin on October 10 and will continue throughout October with events that could keep you entertained for the entire month! All the events and attractions can be found in historic downtown Salem, which will make it easy for you to walk from one place to the next. Bring your walking shoes and experience as much of Salem as possible during America's Halloween Festival. For more information go to HauntedHappenings.org.

Festival of the Dead

Halloween is a time when the shades of the dead whisper from forgotten places, a magical time between the worlds when the spirits walk among us. The Witches of Salem honor this time of enchantment with the annual Festival of the Dead, a carnival of merriment, mystery, mediumship, and ritual where we pay homage to our friends on the other side. This annual two-week Halloween celebration beginning on October 19 in Salem, Massachusetts, explores death’s macabre customs, heretical histories, and strange rituals. Founded by Salem Witch elders Shawn Poirier and Christian Day, Festival of the Dead beckons guests to step through the veil into a realm where spirits await. America's Stonehenge

Sacrificial Table Located in Salem, New Hampshire (notice a trend here?). This is a megalithic ruin roughly 4000 years old. In the visitors center is a ten minute film presentation which runs continuously. To the left is a picture of the sacrificial table. The admission price is $8.50 for adults, $6.50 for kids ages 13 to 15, $5.50 for kids ages 6 to 12, and $7.50 for seniors. For more information, see my article - Stonehenge.

Spooky World

A horror theme park located at in the woods behind Gilette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. This is not a place I would bring my children. In fact, they recommend you don't bring children under 6 years old. If you are into truly gross, bloody Halloween themes - this is the thing for you. Admission is $23.50 all inclusive and parking is $10 per car. For more information go to SpookyWorld.com.

Keene Pumpkin Festival

Jack-O-Lantern This is in the center of Keene, New Hampshire on October 25, 2003. This pumpkin festival began in 1991 and in 1993 they broke the Guinness World Record for the most jack-o-lanterns. Last year the record held by this festival wasn't broken, so they are trying again! So bring your jack-o-lantern to display. Each year the crowd gets larger, so expect a huge crowd. There are lots of activities children can do - so bring them. Admission is free. You can find free parking, but plan to do a little bit of walking. For more information go to PumpkinFestival.com.

Ghosts and Gravestones

A spooky tour of Boston, Massachusetts by the Old Town Trolley Company. A lighthearted look at the city's dark side. This two-hour tour takes guests on a spine tingling trolley ride through historic Boston with tales that other tours won't tell you. The first half of the tour is a walking tour and the second half is on a trolley. Your guide is a fully costumed grave digger. Admission is $27 for adults and $16.20 for kids ages 4 to 12. Be sure to make a reservation. This tour runs from late May through early November. For more information go to GhostsAndGravestones.com and click on Boston.
