Seven Self-Esteem Boosters

Healthy self-esteem is the overall positive picture you have of yourself as a worthy, deserving and content person. The healthier your self-esteem the more willing you are to nurture mind, body and spirit. Wouldn’t you agree that every now and then we all need a boost to our self-esteem?

Read and enjoy these seven tips to help boost not only your self-esteem but maybe even the self-esteem of those around you:

#1 – Spend a day of relaxation, primping and pampering.
When was the last time you spent a whole day just taking care of yourself? You give so much to others, isn’t it time to sit back, relax and allow yourself to be pampered? Make an appointment at a local spa to renew and rejuvenate mind, body and spirit. Allow someone the pleasure of taking care of you. Spend the day enjoying a massage, facial, pedicure and manicure --- you know, the whole works!

#2 – Share some quality time with a special relative or friend.
Life gets busy and soon days are turning into months. Is there a friend or relative you’ve been meaning to call but just haven’t gotten around to it? You know the one I mean, that special person who helps you feels great by just being with them? Call and invite them for coffee. Laugh, share stories and talk about the positive things in life.

#3 - Read a good motivational or inspirational book.
Boosting self-esteem begins on the inside and works its way out. When you’re feeling stressed or discouraged, it’s time to pick up a good book. While in traffic listen to something motivational and inspirational. Load your MP3 player with an upbeat audio book and your favorite music. You can’t go wrong filling your world with “positives.”

#4 - Give out compliments sincerely and often.
Have you ever noticed how much better you feel emotionally after you’ve shared a compliment? Think of a compliment as an emotional hug. A sincere and honest compliment is a gigantic self-esteem booster for both the giver and the receiver.

#5 - Say only positive things about yourself.
The most important words you’ll ever hear are the ones you’re saying to yourself. These powerful words are the barometer of your self-esteem. Self-talk is a refection of your inner thoughts and feelings. Vow to only say positive things to yourself, about yourself – your healthy self-esteem will thank you.

#6 - Smile.
Smiles are filled with cheer, hope and warmth. You can’t be sad or mad while you’re smiling!

#7 - Write a long list of your proudest accomplishments.
Fill an entire page with all the wonderful and great things you’ve done with your life. On a day when you’re feeling a little down or stressed, take this page and read each and every accomplishment. Truly savor and appreciate the wonder of your life!

A word of wisdom: No one’s opinion of you is more important than your own. What have you done today to boost your self-esteem?
