Hello, and welcome back! It’s beginning to look a bit like spring here, with some of the flowers I see on my way to work and back each day. That means that pretty soon I can take my reading material outside.
This time out, I have the latest from Robyn DeHart, Treasure Me (Grand Central, received from publisher), the next installment in her ‘Legend Hunters’ series. Graeme Langford, Duke of Rothmore, is on a quest to find the real Stone of Destiny. Vanessa Pembroke would like to carry out her own quest, to find the Loch Ness monster, and when she discovers her fiancé and her sister in a very compromising position, Vanessa takes the opportunity to go off on her own. Graeme happens to be there when she’s accosted by two men with impure intentions, and to save her, he claims she is his fiancee. That leads to a marriage neither of them had counted on, and puts a bit of a crimp in Graeme’s plans, especially when his new bride proves herself quite passionate. Eventually, this unlikely pair will have to work together to carry out Graeme’s mission, putting Vanessa in grave danger from the Raven. And the longer they’re together, the more entangled their emotions will become. I’ve been a big fan of DeHart’s since her very first book some time ago, and I’ve been enjoying this series quite a lot. There are always heroes a reader can’t help but fall in love with, and Graeme is no exception to this. Then she creates heroines who aren’t weaklings, but women who know what they want, if not exactly how to get it. This one also gives series fans the chance to revisit characters from the previous books in the series, which is lots of fun. Graeme and Vanessa’s romance is touching and sexy, and I was sorry to see the end of this one. I’m borrowing four and a half of Cupid’s five arrows for this one. It’s a keeper, for sure.
Until next time, happy reading!
