Cake Ball Truffle Recipe


Cake ball truffles are one of the easiest desserts to prepare. There are so many variations and they are always a guaranteed crowd pleaser. A great way to describe them is as little balls of heaven.

The traditional way to prepare cake balls is to mix together crumbled up pieces of cake with frosting. You then form this mixture into small balls and dip in melted chocolate. The original method, although yummy, is slightly different from the cake ball recipes provided below. These cake balls have been kicked up a notch!

The two cake ball recipes provided below are Heath Ball Madness and Brownie Lover's Truffle. The great thing about these recipes is you can use store bought prepared cake and brownies or use your own favorite recipe.

These cake truffles are a great little treat with big diversity. They can be given as gifts, made as favors and even be added to ice cream to create a fabulous dessert. Enjoy!

Heath Ball Madness:
(recipe makes about 40 balls)
1 prepared butter cake or pound cake
8 tablespoons of Frangelico liqueur
1 1/2 cups of chopped Heath Bar
3/4 cup of additional Heath Bar for decorating
2 -10 oz bags of chocolate candy melts (can typically be found at your local craft store)
1. Break up the cake into small pieces and mix with the Frangelico and 1 1/2cup of Heath.
2. Roll the mixture into 1 inch balls. This can be done using your hands or a melon baller
3. Place the balls on wax paper; freeze for about 1 hour.
4. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
5. Take the cake balls out of the freezer
6. Dip the cake balls in the chocolate
7. Sprinkle the cake balls with the remaining Heath
8. Freeze for 10 minutes until firm.

Brownie Lover's Truffle
(recipe makes about 40 balls)
1 prepared package of brownies
8 tablespoons of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
2- 10 oz bags of chocolate candy melts (can typically be found at your local craft store)
1. Break up the brownies into small pieces and mix with the Godiva.
2. Roll the mixture into 1 inch balls. This can be done using your hands or a melon baller.
3. Place the balls on wax paper; freeze for about 1 hour.
4. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
5. Take the cake balls out of the freezer.
6. Dip the cake balls in the chocolate.
7. Freeze for 10 minutes until firm.
