One Night Scandal

One Night Scandal
Hello, and welcome back! I hope you're all staying cool and entertained with some of the terrific new romance releases available now. Here in our area, we haven't had nearly enough nice days, cool enough to take the books outside to read, as we have had hot and sticky days. I know I complain about summer every year, but I have a terrible feeling this one is going to be miserable.

This time out, I have One Night Scandal
icon (Zebra, received from publisher) by Christie Kelley. Sophie Reynard matchmakes for others everyday, but she knows better than to hope for a love of her own with her socially unacceptable heritage. That doesn't mean she can't imagine, or that she might not indulge in a single, passionate night with an irresistible stranger. Nicholas Tenbury, Marquess of Ancroft, discovers love at first sight, but he doesn't even know his lover's full name. So he allows his friends to send him to the matchmaker for help in his desperate search--and there she is. Her refusal to admit feelings beyond simple lust frustrates him, as do the secrets she keeps, but the heat between them won't be denied. Sophie agrees to become his lover, and offers to find him a wife. There are a lot of family secrets in this one, on both sides, and if any of them come out, lives may be ruined. But if none of the secrets are revealed, there will be more heartache than a scheming duke can manage on his own. I quite enjoyed Nicholas, who doesn't care about scandal, only about winning his love, and he'll do anything and break any rules to have her. I did wish one of Sophie's revelations had come sooner, but I do understand why it had to wait. I'm borrowing three and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
