I suffer from allergies and always like to have some pocket tissues handy in my purse, but I don't know how many times I have reached into my purse and found a mangled plastic package of tissues that look like they have been through World War III. I didn't realize my purse was such a dangerous place!
 | | One easy way to preserve your tissues is to keep them in a holder that protects them. This handy fabric pocket tissue holder is easy and quick to make. They also make wonderful gifts! If you cut out multiple sets at one time, you can put them together assembly line style very quickly and stock your gift box.
 | | For this project, all you need is two rectangles of fabric, 6 1/2 inches by 7 inches and your basic sewing supplies (sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins). You can choose to use the same fabric on both sides or use contrasting fabrics.
Put your rectangles right sides together and, starting on a longer side, sew around the outside edge of the tissue holder using a 1/4 inch seam. Stop sewing about 2 inches from where you started, leaving an opening for turning.
 | | Trim extra threads, clip across the corners, and turn the tissue holder right side out. Use a chopstick to gently press the corners out so that they are square.
Press the seam edges open and flat. This is probably the most time consuming part, trying to press those edges all the way open. I have found that rolling the seam just before pressing it seems to help. Turn the edges of the opening to the inside and press (you don't need to sew it shut).
 | | Almost done now!
Lay your tissue holder rectangle on your work surface and decide which side you want to face out. This will be your right side. With the opening at the top, fold the sides of the tissue holder (with the right side on the inside) toward the middle and overlap the edges by 1/4 inch. Pin across each short end to hold the folded edges in place.
 | | Using 1/4 inch seam, sew across each end that you have pinned. Double stitch over the intersection of the two flaps to give it extra strength.
 | | Turn right side out and insert a pocket tissue pack!

I hope you enjoyed this project! Happy Sewing!
