Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel

Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel
Hello, and welcome back! The kids are heading back to school here, which means fall is just around the corner. No, not quite this week, and probably not next, but soon it’s going to be cool enough for me to fire up the teapot again and curl up with a good read. Sadly, with the end of the bookstore chain where I’ve worked for years, I’m going to have more reading time than usual very shortly. Hopefully my job-hunt will be successful quickly, and perhaps I may even have good news on the book front from my agent. Both would make the loss of the bookstore a little less.

This time out, I have the last of the August romance releases with Sue-Ellen Welfonder’s latest installment in her “Highland Warriors” series, Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel (Grand Central, received from publisher). Kendrew Mackintosh knows he must settle someday as chief of his clan, but it won’t be soon. Then he meets Lady Isobel Cameron, sister of his enemy and irresistible temptation. In the Glen of Many Legends, the fragile peace won’t take much to break, and Kendrew and Isobel’s growing relationship becomes tangled in the fate of the Glen. I adore Ms. Welfonder’s books, filled as they are with fantastic Scottish settings, saucy heroines, intensely sexy Highland heroes, and just a little bit of magic. Kendrew is a great addition to her body of work, a roguish Scot who knows what he wants and just exactly how to get it. Isobel is definitely a match for him, just as stubborn as he is and smart enough to know how to get her heart’s desire. The cast of secondary characters is fun as well, providing a fitting backdrop to the sweeping, sexy romance between Kendrew and Isobel. This one is going on my keeper shelf, with all the rest of Ms. Welfonder’s books, all the way back to her very first one. I’m borrowing four of Cupid’s five arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
