Deep Disclosure

Deep Disclosure
Hello, and welcome back! Fall is finally here, and I love it! I know it hasn’t gotten everywhere yet, that some areas here in the States are still very hot, but I’m sure autumn will get to the rest of you soon. It’s finally cooled down, though not perhaps enough yet to fire up the teapot. But I’ve got some of my favorite blackberry sage tea ready for when it is cool enough.

This time out, I have the latest from Dee Davis in her ‘A-Tac’ series, Deep Disclosure (Grand Central, received from publisher). A-Tac agent Tucker Flynn’s latest assignment is to protect Alexis Markham while also investigating her. When Alexis was a child, her father created a biochemical weapon, then was murdered. Alexis grew up on the run from people who wanted her father’s formula for the weapon, and she trusts no one, though she’d like to trust her sexy new bodyguard Tucker. It might be possible to indulge the heat between them and still keep her secrets. Or maybe not. Part of the enjoyment of this one is getting to revisit some of my favorite characters from the earlier books in this series. Tucker has gone through a lot of less than desirable things in his own past, so he can understand Alexis’s motivations, though winning her trust may be one of the biggest challenges of his life. And getting past her anger and feelings of betrayal later on might be impossible. Alexis is a terrific heroine, wary and strong, capable of fending for herself, and just vulnerable enough to hope for a happy ending of her own. Tucker is ideal, one of those heroes a reader would love to have come to her rescue, determined to make things right no matter the cost to him. I’ve been enjoying this series, though I was already a Dee Davis fan long before she began writing this series. Part of the reason for that is her storytelling style, which grabs you from the start and pulls you right in, making you care about her characters and what is happening to them. I’m borrowing four and a half of Cupid’s five arrows for this one and adding it to my keeper shelf.

Until next time, happy reading!
