Movember

Gentlemen, start your mustaches!

Yes. facial hair fans, it's that fuzzy and fantastic time of year again... it's Movember! Wait, you've never heard of Movember? Put down your shaving gear and pull up a chair.

Movember got it's start back in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia. Some folks wanted to raise awareness (and funds) for men's health issues, most specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that target men more often. And what they came up with was thirty days of facial hair celebration and activism. During the month of November, those men who wish to support the cause are encouraged to grow out and groom their mustaches. A gorgeous and styled mustache is a great conversation starter and you can't beat facial placement when it comes to making something noticeable.

Did you know that a mustache doesn't just have to be a fuzzy caterpillar that sits between your upper lip and your nose? How about a small handlebar? Or a big handlebar? (think Rip Taylor) Or a Pencil? (think John Waters) Or a horseshoe? Or an Imperial? There are more variations on mustaches than you can grow in a month!

The goals behind Movember are as noble as the mustaches grown. The program funds programs that offer support and assistance to cancer survivors. They fund education programs and health screenings. They fund research and clinical trials especially ones that are tackling prostate cancer. And they are working to support and assist research that goes toward health policies and men's health in general.

There are a variety of ways to support Movember. You can register to participate. You can donate directly. You can have a Movember party. You can get your business or school or community involved. If you are a woman, talk to your male partners, family members and friends about Movember and help them grow those fantastic mustaches.

To learn more, get involved, donate, get the app or get a free Movember party pack sent to you so that you can get things going where you live, the official Movember site has everything you need in the way of information and help. So grow some hair, help men's health and join the Mo Bros in November!
