Twisted

Twisted
Hello, and welcome back! I keep thinking that Mother Nature is going to give us a break here--let me spend a few hours outside with one of the books in my TBR stack, or a little while working in the garden--and she keeps laughing at me while turning up the thermostat outside. I'm really looking forward to fall's arrival this year, but we're still a long way away from that right now. Good thing I have plenty of books waiting to be read to keep me indoors and cool.

This time out, I have Twisted (Pocket Star, received from author and publisher) by Laura Griffin, next in her terrific "Tracers" series, a series I've been loving from the very start. Detective Allison Doyle has worked with the Delphi Center on previous cases, and now she's found a suspect in the latest murder she's investigating. Only FBI profiler Mark Wolfe lands in Texas with a theory she hadn't considered: that her victim belongs to a serial killer on the loose for ten years, and this killer won't stop with Allison's victim. She works with Mark on his theory, closely, until they get close to the killer. Too close. Finding the killer means they're both in danger now, too. Allison might not be as experienced at this kind of investigation as Mark, but she's smart and tenacious, and unafraid. Mark has been at his job for so long he can do it in his sleep, but working with Allison and battling the scorching attraction they share makes him wonder if there might be something more waiting for him. One of the great things about this series, aside from the fantastic characters and terrific suspense, is getting to revisit people we've met in previous books in the series, and this one is no different. I've been a huge fan of Ms. Griffin's work since her very first book, One Last Breath, and she became an auto-buy for me years ago. Mark is awesome, tough and damaged, and still able to fall in love with the right woman when he finds her in front of him. Allison is a fantastic heroine, strong and intelligent, and determined not to let her heart get broken. I love this series, and Laura Griffin's writing. If you haven't read her yet and love romantic suspense, you're missing out. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
