Labor Day Weekend Activities

Labor Day Weekend Activities
The end of summer is unofficially marked by Labor Day weekend. From backyard barbeques, to hitting the beach, or relaxing on a sailboat, there are countless things to do Labor Day weekend! Make the final days of summer count by planning some fun and festive Labor Day weekend activities for your family. Here are some Labor Day weekend activities you can plan to say farewell to summer.

Host a Backyard Cookout:
Hosting a backyard cookout is a traditional Labor Day weekend activity. Make the party planning less stressful by making it a potluck. This will give all of your guests a chance to share their favorite potluck dishes. Provide a selection of beverages, eating utensils, and set a table buffet style and let guests serve themselves.

Have a Picnic:
Labor Day weekend is a great time to enjoy the remaining warm weather in many parts of the country, so why not have a picnic? Pack sandwiches, desserts, and some cool refreshing drinks and don’t forget a blanket. Plan outdoors activities such as Frisbee or baseball after the picnic, so you can take full advantage of the outdoor space.

Movie Night:
Labor Day is big weekend for new movie releases, so plan a night out with your family and catch a movie. Another fun idea is to set up a screen in your backyard, and project one of your favorite movies. It’s like bringing the drive-in theatre to your own backyard! Bring out some comfy chairs, snacks, and blankets, and enjoy a movie under the stars!

Go on a Trip:
Whether it is a lake or the beach, both are perfect locations for a Labor Day getaway with family or friends. If your family enjoys being active in the water, plan some water-based activities such as kayaking, white-water rafting, river tubing, or jet skiing. Not into water sports? This would be a great time to visit local museums, aquariums and other attractions without leaving the state or your city. Visit your city’s website page and go on that tour you have been putting off, or take advantage of discounts on tourist attractions for residents.

Choose one fun activity to do each day of the weekend, or decide to have one big party on the day of the holiday. Remember this weekend is about relaxing and enjoying the company of those you love. Make the final days of summer count and plan fun and relaxing Labor Day activities for your friends and family.
