Christmas With The Kranks

Christmas With The Kranks
When their daughter, Blair, travels out of the country with the Peace Corps, Luther and Nora Krank decide to forego Christmas and all of the festivities and decorations that go with it in order to take a once in a lifetime cruise. But the Kranks have a difficult time getting everyone onboard with their lack of Christmas spirit. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Christmas with the Kranks”.

• When the Scouts show up with the Christmas tree and Luther tells them they’re not going to buy a tree this year because they’re going on a cruise, the close-up of Luther shows there’s a wreath with a golden bow on their red front door. But a few moments later, when Vic Frohmeyer is in the street and turns around, the view of the house shows the wreath is gone.

• While looking at the house from the outside, the Krank’s home has a bay window to the left of the door and a regular three paned window to the right. It’s that way throughout the movie, even when Luther sprays the sidewalk with ice and runs inside. But when the postman is walking and slips on the ice, the windows are reversed. They’re back to their original position when Nora walks out and slips on the ice with the carolers.

• CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Luther is sitting in the back of the ambulance and Vic is relaying to the neighbors what’s going on. When Luther says “and she’s bringing her boyfriend”, the front, close-up view of Vic, Luther and Nora shows Luther’s arms are moving and his hands are near his jacket collar. As Vic announces it to the neighbors, it cuts to a farther view and Luther’s arms are crossed together in front of his stomach. It cuts back to the close-up and his arms are fidgeting again.

• CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Officer Salino and Officer Treen have Blair and Enrique in the squad car, driving them through the snow. When Salino and Treen are talking, the inside view of the car shows the police cruiser’s windshield wipers are on, moving back and forth. But the outside view of the car shows the wipers aren’t moving.

“Christmas with the Kranks” (2004) stars Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dan Aykroyd, M. Emmet Walsh, Cheech Marin, Jake Busey, Julie Gonzalo, Tom Poston, Caroline Rhea and Felicity Huffman. It runs 99 minutes and is rated PG for brief language and suggestive comment.
