The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey

Although he's more than content to stay at his comfortable home, Bilbo Baggins unexpectedly becomes the fourteenth member of a group on a treacherous journey to Lonely Mountain. The group, which also includes Dwarves and their leader, Thorin Oakenshield, and the wizard Gandalf the Grey, most face the likes of Trolls, Goblins and Orcs during this part of their journey while Bilbo has a startling encounter with the strange creature Gollum. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey".

Bilbo is remember his first encounter with Gandalf. The screen shows "60 Years Earlier" as a younger Bilbo is sitting outside on a bench, smoking his pipe. When Bilbo says "Good morning", he sticks the end of the pipe in his mouth. The view cuts to Gandalf and back to Bilbo and the pipe is still in his mouth. It cuts to a side view of the two of them when Gandalf says "or..." and Bilbo is holding the pipe in front of him and the end is no longer in his mouth.

The Dwarves are eating at the table at Bilbo's house in Bag End. The scene pans across the table and Bombur is at the head of the table. To Bombur's left is Fili who's holding a mug in his right hand and in the next seat is Kili. Bofur says "Bombur, catch!" and the scene cuts to a quick view of Bofur and then back to Bombur and the others at the table as Bombur catches the boiled egg in his mouth. Although Kili is still in the same spot, it's now Ori that's in the seat next to Bombur's left and not Fili.

Gandalf shows Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman the sword of the Witch King that Radagast gave him. The close-up view of the sword when Elrond uncovers it, shows the wrapping is flat on the table. But in the view of Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf, the wrapping near the tip of the sword is folded over. Also during this scene, when Galdariel mentions the sword was "buried with him", the close-up of Gandalf shows he's looking to his left, towards her, and then turns his head to look at the sword in front of him. The scene cuts to a far view of the group (through the archway) and he's looking to his left, at Galadriel again.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" (2012) stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee and Andy Serkis. It runs 169 minutes and is rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence and frightening images.
