Star Wars - Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Star Wars - Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Every story has a beginning. For the original “Star Wars”, the story began in this prequel which introduces moviegoers to a younger Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi master, Qui-Gon Jinn. When the two are sent to help diffuse a clash between the Trade Federation and the peaceful people of Naboo, the threat of war quickly escalates. As they try to find their way to Coruscant with Gugan Jar Jar Binks and Naboo’s Queen Amidala in tow, they get stranded on the world of Tatooine where they meet a young Anakin Skywalker. While Obi-Wan has his misgivings about the boy, Qui-Gon believes that Anakin is the one who can bring balance to the Force. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Star Wars – Episode I – The Phantom Menace”.

∙ After landing on Naboo, where Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan first meet Jar Jar Binks, Obi-Wan talks about how they will be crushed if they are found. During the scene, Obi-Wan’s braid switches from his right to his left in different views. This happens again later when they are getting parts for Queen Amidala’s ship on Tatooine, Obi-Wan is talking to Qui-Gon and remarks about picking up another “pathetic life form”.

∙ When Anakin is in his room, packing to leave, there are a number of items on his bed. From C-3PO’s point of view, there is an item in the middle of the bed resembling a toy fighter that’s pointed towards them. In the next view the item is pushed further back and is now pointed towards the wall.

∙ During most of the movie, Darth Maul’s neck is either covered or painted black. However, during the scene when he and Darth Sidious are talking and walking the corridor, in the close-up view, his neck is missing the paint.

∙ In the hangar before the podrace, Kitster is talking about finishing the race. Qui-Gon can be seen in the background walking up to one of the aliens. In the very next sequence, Qui-Gon does it all over again.

“Star Wars – Episode I – The Phantom Menace” stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jaky Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid, Pernilla August, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Terrence Stamp and Samuel L. Jackson. It runs 136 minutes and is rated PG for sci-fi action/violence.
