Dallas Buyers Club

Ron Woodroof is an electrician by day and a hard boozing, cocaine using, sexually promiscuous rodeo hustler by night. In 1985 when he’s diagnosed with AIDS at a time when little is known about the treatment for the disease, Ron makes it his mission to fight for his life to get the drug treatment that he needs as well as other sufferers. Along the way, he becomes friends with Rayon, who’s the epitome of everything that Ron hates in life and the sympathetic Dr. Saks, who treats AIDS patients. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Dallas Buyers Club”.

∙ When Ron is at the library reading about HIV and AIDS, there’s a flashback to a one night stand he had with a girl. In the front view, after he remembers, there’s nothing near his face. It cuts to a right side view and his left hand, holding his handkerchief, is at his face, over his nose.

∙ Ron goes to the hospital and asks to see the doctor. Dr. Eve Saks approaches him. In the front view of her after she calls his name, she takes off the glove on her right hand. It cuts to Ron who says he wants a doctor now and then back to Dr. Saks who takes the right glove off again when she asks how she can help.

∙ Ron gets into an altercation at the bar with his pals. As he’s leaving, the only thing near the end of the bar is a serving tray with a beer bottle on it. It cuts to a farther view after he leaves and there’s now a towel at the end of the bar.

∙ Dr. Vass is telling Ron that he’s prescribing a regiment of vitamins and says “have fun” before he walks away. The view of Ron on the bed shows his hospital gown is pulled down, covering his stomach. It cuts to a right side view and the gown is pulled up. He then covers himself again.

∙ After Rayon talks to his dad, Ron is on the phone with the doctor who hangs up on him. Ron is wearing his glasses in the side view and still has them on in the front view when he says that none of the doctors “will write me scripts”. The scene cuts to a right side view as he leans back in his chair and his glasses are off.

∙ When Ron walks into Dr. Saks office with the sombrero and lets her know he’s going to Mexico, the door behind him changes from being nearly closed, to completely open to being almost closed again.

“Dallas Buyers Club” (2013) stars Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, Jennifer Garner, Denis O’Hare and Steve Zahn. It runs 117 minutes and is rated R for pervasive language, some strong sexual content, nudity and drug use.
