Taking Photos for an Auction Item
Guest Author - Maria Thompson

Looking to sell an item in an auction? No matter what it is, a photo is KEY. You want to make the item as appealing as possible, and reassure that buyer that they are really getting what they want. The better the photo, the higher the prices they are willing to pay.

For starters, look at this photos of a Zidane figure:

Itīs very hard to see, itīs very cluttered, dark, and only shows one side. Few buyers would be enthusiastic about buying based on this photo. You want to have the item youīre selling as the ONLY item in the photo. You want it to be large, well lit, and taken from various angles so the buyer can see it from all around. If you look at these two photos, you can see what a difference the buyer feels, compared to that first photo:

While a regular film camera works fine, a digital camera really simplifies the entire process. Instead of having to develop the film and then either get a disk made or scan the images yourself, you just take the picture and pop the floppy disk or memory card directly into your PC. You can see immediately how the photo came out, and take another one if you need to.
