Accent Pillows to Sew

If home decorator items could be ascribed a feeling or mood, then accent or throw pillows would surely be described as being happy and contented. Accent pillows are fun and easy to make and one of the quickest ways to herald in spring. Add some new plush accent pillows to your home dcor and usher in the delights of spring. Pillows can be made with stunning contrasting piping, envelope style, ruffled, tasseled, pleated, buttoned and beribboned. Pillows can reflect our hopes for renewal by making them with fabrics the color of daffodils, forsythia, and the soft shades of tender green shoots; with colors drawn from the pink, white, and lavender blooms of emerging hyacinth; with the freshness of whites seen in billowing cumulous clouds again the soothing contrast of the bright blue sky of spring.

Spring is the perfect time for sewing. The following links all contain free, complete project instructions for making those springtime pillows.

No Sew Pillow - General Instructions for 12 pillow form. Soft non-raveling fabrics or even colorful bandanas can be used for fabric choices.
Cut two 22 square pieces from fabric or use two 22 bandanas.
Cut 3 1/2 slits every scant 1 around all four sides of each fabric piece.
The squared corner pieces from each of the four corners will not used and may be discarded. Lay the pillow between both pieces of fabric and begin tying and knotting an upper and lower cut strip together encasing the pillow. To keep the pillow centered, start by tying and knotting one set of strips from each of the corners before continuing around all sides. Continue tying and knotting around the four pillow sides. Makes a great pillow for a child or teen.

Note: Use a larger pillow form and larger fabric squares to make a charming floor pillow for comfortable lay-about TV-watching or even a pillow-bed for your canine companions.

Happy Sewing.
