Ke Ahiahi Mamua O Kalikimaka: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas -in Hawai'i- illustrated by Barbara Ewald Published by Bess Press

This wonderfully illustrated Hawaiian theme of the classic Christmas tale "Twas the Night before Christmas" based on the original poem by Clement C. Moore is a cultural treasure!

The hardcover children's book starts out with the song "Mele Kalikimaka" which is also on the back pages. It includes a facsimile of Moore's original hand-written script of Twas the Night Before Christmas which makes it even more special.

I love the fact that they include Hawaiian translations of various key words with colorful illustrations so that children will know what the words mean even if they don't know the poem by heart yet. There also words and meanings on the bottom of the pages for help. The back features a Glossary of Hawaiian words and phrases as an added plus.

There may not be lots of cold snow in Hawaii but Christmas Spirit is alive and well! Readers of all ages will enjoy this Holiday children's book with a Hawaiian theme and wonderful illustrations. I would definitely recommend this book!
