College Writing Contest for As The World Turns and the Guiding Light
According to the CBS web site, college students have a neat opportunity. Procter and Gamble Productions are sponsoring a story writing contest for college students. They can write a story line for Guiding Light or As The World Turns. This is the third time they are sponsoring this.
The Executive in Charge of Production, Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin, announced the contest April 30. However, this August 2004, entry packets will be available at colleges. If not available, you need to request one by October 1, 2004. Interested candidates must have the entry registration returned by October 14. Writing entries must be in by November 12, 2004. A winner for each show will be notified no later than December 17, 2004.
Winners of the contest will win a trip to New York and meet the producers, program executives, and writers of the Guiding Light and As The World Turns.
To be qualified for the contest, a person must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student and enrolled in a writing course in September 2004. You must write a long term story with current characters on one of the shows sponsored by Proctor & Gamble. The winning writings will be determined by plot, romance, creativity, dramatic conflict, and appeal.
The contest rules and regulations for the contest will be distributed through faculty and advisors to students at colleges and universities across the nation in August 2004.
